The ACRYLITE® Magazine 2011 No.11

Sometimes, what you don't see makes things more exciting, as is the case with large water structures made of ACRYLITE® blocks. Their high transparency provides completely new insights- for example in large aquariums like at Cologne Zoo, where visitors can look gigantic hippos in the eye. Pools too create a very special effect where the water seems to end in thin air. This is exemplified by an Australian project, which turned a pool on the 27th  floor into what appears to be a block of water, offering a panoramic view of the glorious Pacific.

ACRYLITE® is particularly striking when it is lit up. It transforms a streetcar stop in Augsburg from what is normally a rather dismal spot into a cozy waiting area. Lamps by French designer Patrice Renaudot, which shine in a different color depending on the viewing angle, help to give rooms a pleasant ambiance.  And once a year, Berlin too appears in a completely new light, when designers and artists illuminate landmarks, squares, and buildings in the German capital. This is art that invites you to take a closer look- and in the case of Bernd Spiecker's objects, to take a seat as well, on his luminous benches made of ACRYLITE®.
